I don't know much about the origins of this vintage handmade painted papier mache and cloth Punch doll/puppet

The reverse is great as well

The dark blue ground is very tightly woven of very fine thread, with the figurative design executed in thicker threads, placing it in relief and giving this piece terrific texture.
