Sachs Bridge collectible balloonistBuilt in 1854 Sachs Bridge is a 100 covered Town Truss Bridge that spans the width of Marsh Creek just to the southwest of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The bridge engineer, Ithiel Towns of Connecticut, created its lattice type criss cross wooden beam design for additional strength; thus the Town Truss architectural style. During and after the Battle of Gettysburg, July 1 3, 1863, Sachs Bridge was used by both the Army of the Potomac (Union) and the Army
