I take the carving as representing an abstracted (voluptuous Art Nouveau esque) heart, so would call this a love token, and with a nice weight to it, perfect atop a stack of papers on the desk. 4 9 16" x 1 15 16" x 1 4". Earlyish 20th century I believe, hardwood, in beautiful condition, with a thin dark gray felt covering the back.
