Uplifted oceanic sandy soils create unique drainage sending the vines deep into marine-derived sub-soils
and continuing to work hard to acquire what little she can each year
then it is drawn off and placed in a cement tanks where it rests all winter and undergoes the first racking with the waning moon of February
one of which is Alessandro Viola whose eponymous imprint is well-known both on our shelves and across the natural-wine-world
2012 Joseph Dorbon Arbois Vin Jaune Jura, France Tiberio with pressed late-ferment carbonic Carignan)Flagrantly exceeding the appellations six years and three months minimum, Dorbon releases his Vin Jaune only after a full ten years under the veil, and only in certain vintages. The result is an oceanic wine of seemingly impossible power, with raging acidity wed to luscious, salt caked yellow fruits, and given additional complexity by a raw almond character that stops short of overt oxidation.
